Mr. Kelly L. Mankin was appointed Vice President – U.S. Marketing for Chrysler Financial in July 2007. Prior to this position, he served as Vice President – Chrysler Brands Marketing for DaimlerChrysler Financial Services Americas.  He reports to Darryl Jackson, Chief Operating Officer for Chrysler Financial.  In his current position, Mankin is responsible for U.S. Marketing Operations, Dealer and Consumer Marketing and Point-of-Sale Business Strategy for Chrysler Financial.  Mankin joined the company in May 1985 as a Sales Trainee in the Washington Zone.

Biography:

Thomas J. Peyton is the Senior Manager, National Advertising for American Honda Motor Company.  In this capacity he directs the Honda Brand advertising and marketing, which includes the creative strategy, media, internet, and event marketing.  He started with Honda in 2001 as the Senior Manager of Market Support, which directed incentives, sales promotion, sales training, and special marketing programs for the Acura and Honda Brands.

Prior to American Honda, Tom spent 14 years with DaimlerChrysler and the Chrysler Group where he held several senior sales and marketing positions, including Chrysler Marketing Plans Manager, Jeep Advertising Manager, Corporate Incentives Manager, and Senior Manager - eCommerce.

Tom started his career with American Motors in a variety of Zone Sales Management positions, including California Marketing Manager and National Merchandising Manager.

Tom has an M.B.A. and B.S. in Business Administration/Marketing from the University of Southern California. He was also named to Advertising Age’s Marketing 50, an award which recognizes the most innovative and inspiring marketers of 2007.

Matt Gunderson

Biography:
Matt Gunderson is the owner and executive manager of Infiniti of Mission Viejo and Audi Mission Viejo located in southern Orange County California.  Matt is the Immediate Past President of the Orange County Auto Dealers Association and is the Chairman of the 2009 Orange County Auto Show.  While enjoying a successful career in sports marketing, he literally and figuratively got into the car business by accident.  His brother Scott, the owner of two large and highly successful Los Angeles County based dealerships was injured in a hot air balloon accident while attending a Chevrolet meeting.  Matt got the call to “baby-sit” his brother’s stores for six months.  He juggled his sports marketing responsibilities and stayed on as the General Manager of his brother’s Nissan dealership.  As they say, “the rest is history.”

Matt has served on several national and regional dealer advisory panels for Nissan, Infiniti and Audi and currently is a member of the 8 member National Dealer Advisory Board for Audi of America. 

Matt was born and raised along side seven siblings in a small town in Wisconsin called Pleasantville.  He attended a two-room grade school and graduated from Whitehall High School with 76 of his closest friends.  He holds a BA degree in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and an MBA in Finance and Marketing from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.  He and his wife Margo live in Ladera Ranch, California with their four daughters, Annalee, Meg, Caroline, & Elsa.

Biography:

Jerry Daniels is currently Founder, President, and CEO of the Automotive Broadcast Network (ABN).  ABN provides auto dealers with the ability to market all their profit centers to their customers while they wait for their cars to be serviced.  ABN is partnered with CBS Television and has successful installations at dealers in over 100 markets in 33 different states.

Jerry has over 25 years of experience in the automotive industry.  He started out as a salesperson and worked his way up, becoming a Dealer in Northern California at the age of 30.  Most recently, Jerry was Executive Vice President for the Asbury Automotive Group with responsibility for 25 dealerships in the critical Florida market.

Prior to his role with Asbury Jerry was Founder, President, and CEO of Auto Town, a software company providing CRM, Inventory Tracking, and Finance & Insurance software to auto dealerships in 13 states.  In the process of selling Auto Town to a large dealer group, Jerry took on the role of EVP of Sales and Marketing before joining Asbury.

Jerry is active among the dealership community and is a graduate of the NADA's Dealer Candidate Academy.

Chad Collier

Biography:

Chad Collier is Founder and President of the Collier Automotive Group.  He’s a life-long “car guy” who followed his desire to work in the Automotive business early in life.  As a teen Chad started out as a lot attendant and then advanced into sales to pay his way through college.  His success led to quick promotions to sales management and general management positions.  In 2004, Chad achieved his first major goal when he became the youngest non-succession Ford dealer in Ford Motor Company history at age 26.  The Collier Automotive Group was started as Chad began to accumulate multiple dealerships in the central southern states.  Currently Chad is focused on consolidating the Collier Automotive Group’s dealerships and implementing innovative, customer oriented, retail business practices.

Chad was recently recognized by the Automotive News as one of 8 recipients of their Innovative Dealer of the Year Award 2008 for his Dealer CRM sales process called I’M A LOOKER.  I’M A LOOKER was developed to address the problems of customer interaction in the showroom that have challenged dealerships for decades.  It also serves as a sales conduit specifically designed for Internet customers, bringing Internet buying into a real-time setting.

Chad is also CEO of Collier Consulting (providing services to the U.S. government and multi-national corporations), volunteers for several community service organizations, and serves on the Indiana Auto Dealers Association Board of Directors.  He received a degree in Business Management from Arizona State University.  Chad is married and has two beautiful children.

Rob Chesney
Vice President
eBay Motors

Biography:

Rob Chesney is vice president of eBay Motors, the Internet’s largest marketplace for buying and selling all things automotive. Chesney is responsible for overseeing vehicles, parts, motorcycles, powersports and other vehicles, which include boats, recreational vehicles, airplanes, commercial trucks and collector cars.

Most recently, Chesney spearheaded the launch of the redesigned eBay Motors site and the introduction of the eBay Motors’ Certified Pre-Owned Showroom. eBay Motors launched a user-improved site design in December 2007, which improved search functionality, research and pricing tools and  buyer services. The eBay Motors Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) Showroom was officially introduced in June 2008. The CPO Showroom enables consumers to view certified pre-owned inventory from dealers within their local area via a classified listings format. General Motors, Lexus, Ford and Toyota currently list inventory within the Showroom. Chesney also launched the Local Market product at NADA 2007. Local Market is a subscription-based service that enables dealers to more easily upload and list their entire used-car lot for one low price.

Chesney served previously with eBay Motors as senior director of vehicles, director of autos and also as senior manager of national sales, where he was responsible for all sales and new-business efforts involved in outreach to automotive dealers. During this time, Chesney was responsible for managing the integration of CARad after eBay Motors acquired the company and also oversaw the design and implementation of the eBay Motors Telesales and Service Center. The center now has hundreds of account managers supporting every stage of a dealer’s lifecycle on eBay Motors.

Before joining eBay in September 2001, Chesney was the director of business development at TradeOut.com where he was instrumental in developing the business-to-business online marketplace for auto dealers to source inventory directly from financial institutions and rental-car companies.  Prior to joining TradeOut.com, Chesney served as an associate in Lehman Brothers’ corporate finance division.

He earned his bachelor of arts degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada and a masters of business administration degree from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.

Chesney bought his BMW 540 Sport on eBay Motors and had the car shipped from one of eBay Motors’ most active sellers, an independent dealer in Houston.  Though he enjoys his recently purchased vehicle, Chesney dreams of owning a 1964 Lincoln Continental convertible with suicide doors.

Biography:

In his role as Vice President and Lead Automotive Analyst in Gartner’s Industry Advisory Service, Mr. Koslowski helps business and IT leaders in the automotive industry to unlock the potential of technology to drive growth and manage technology's impact on business models and processes.  His analysis centers around critical topics related to the automotive demand & supply chains, in-vehicle information & communication applications and IT trends.

Before joining Gartner, Mr. Koslowski was a consultant in GartnerConsulting's Executive Market Analysis Program, where he participated in customized domestic and international consulting assignments for vendors in the services and e-business markets. Prior to that, he worked in various marketing positions for a premium, European automaker.  Mr. Koslowski graduated with honors from the Technical University (RWTH) Aachen in Germany and holds a master's degree in Business Studies with majors in Marketing, European Economy and Production Engineering.

As Gartner’s lead analyst for the automotive vertical, Mr. Koslowski is regularly quoted in global publications, TV and radio broadcasts including the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, CNET, BBC, Automotive News, PC Magazine, ABC News and others.

Dr. Domenico Greco

Dr. Domenico Greco is the President & CEO of Aster Group located in Cosenza, Italy.  As the President & CEO, Dr. Greco is responsible for Volkswagen (VW)/Audi/Škoda/Seat dealers.  He has also held various positions at the Aster Group, such as the Marketing & IT Director.  As the Marketing & IT Director in 2002, Dr. Greco was responsible for the startup development of their CRM strategy, including a knowledge related platform, which was the first project test case in an Italian VW dealership.  After four years working for Aster Group, Dr. Greco held a strategic consultant (2005-2006) role to UCAV (Italian association of VW dealers) and Volkswagen group Italy (VW national company) providing services on Customer Centricity training and IT strategy.

Prior to joining Aster Group, Dr. Greco was an e-business consultant at Oxford IPC, London, England, where he was responsible for creating seminars on e-marketing and branding online and responsible for the business plan creation of the e-business project.

Dr. Greco speaks regularly at numerous international conferences throughout Italy on Sales Quality Management, Data Mining Value in Marketing Campaigns, and CRM.  Dr. Greco is an advocate for improving the ROI of dealerships, by adding focus towards continuous customer loyalty programs and customer care tools, and for improving customer equity management across dealerships: from the customer service teams to sales teams, with the objective to effectively integrate all departments in an competitive corporate CRM-based strategy.

Albert Kruegel has worked for Hyundai Motor America and Hyundai Information Service North America for over 12 years.  He was responsible for implementing several major projects including:  Siebel CRM Call Center for 4 business divisions, Dealer to Dealer Order Referral System, Parts-Web Based Dealer Communication System, Web Based Cycle Count System, and an Online Dealer Parts Catalog.

Karen Newman is the Automotive Industry Lead Partner for the Americans.  In this role, Ms. Newman is responsible for managing the portfolio of clients across Automotive OEMs, Automotive Suppliers, and Heavy Equipment manufacturers.  This responsibility includes client relationships, client satisfaction, and value realization related to the solutions IBM develops and implements with those organizations. 

 

Prior to this role Ms. Newman lead the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) services area for IBM’s Automotive Industry team in the Americas.  In addition, she represents IBM on the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) Steering Committee for Collaborative Engineering & Product Development.

 

Ms. Newman has more than 21 years experience in helping customers transform and improve their businesses and develop strategies and processes for success, with a deep focus on engineering and manufacturing organizations.  Ms. Newman has a broad background in business transformation with firms such as Ford, Visteon, General Motors, DaimlerChrysler, Federal Mogul, IBM and many others in the automotive industry.

Jim Johnson leads IBM's Automotive Marketing, Sales & Service Solutions Team for the America's.  For the past six years, Mr. Johnson has consulted with Automotive OEMs, Suppliers, and Heavy Equipment manufacturers on strategies for marketing channel effectiveness, sales & dealer operations, vehicle diagnostics & telematics, parts management and captive finance solutions.  As a subject matter expert in this domain, he is responsible for the design & development of next generation industry solutions and he has overall sales responsibility for the America's Geography.

Denise Jacobson is National Manager, Lexus Customer Satisfaction & Training for Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc.

Ms. Jacobson is responsible to oversee Lexus’ Contact Assistance Center (800#),  Voice of the Customer Department, and Training for Lexus contact assistance center associates.

Since joining Toyota in 1978, Ms. Jacobson has held a number of positions, including Distribution Manager, Business Management Manager, Merchandising Manager, and Field Operations Manager for Central Atlantic Toyota Distributors, Inc. She also held the position of Vehicle Operations Manager in Toyota’s New York Region.  She later served as the Assistant General Manager for the Lexus Division in the Central Area.

Ms. Jacobson earned a degree in Business Administration and resides in Cerritos, California with her husband and three children.

Biography:

Mr. Gilbert brings over forty years of business management and professional experience into the classroom, including over twenty-five years in the automotive industry.  He teaches a wide range of classes in Automotive Marketing, Political Science, Business Management, Marketing, Philosophy, History, Economics, and Finance and is the faculty coordinator for the highly successful “Auto Show of the Palm Beaches, Presented by Northwood University.”  He is a sought after speaker and presenter for the automotive industry both here and abroad.  He is a recognized expert witness in the area of automobile franchise operations and management. 

Mr. Gilbert was recently invited for the third time to speak at the Fenabrave Congress, the national convention of automobile dealers in Brazil.  He has also lectured for the ICDP (International Car Distribution Program) in Nice, France and been a guest lecturer at several international institutions including Fundacao Armando Alveres Penteado (FAAP) in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Groupe ESSCA in France, the Canadian Automotive Institute at Georgian College, and the International Summer University in Wolfsburg Germany.  He is the international coordinator for NU-CARS (Northwood University Computer Automotive Retail Simulation), given throughout Europe and North America; the author of three textbooks and the co-author of another in the field of automotive marketing, as well as a past contributor to AutoSuccess Magazine.  Mr. Gilbert has been awarded the Outstanding Faculty Excellence Award and is listed in “Who’s Who of Americas Teachers” and “Who’s Who of American Business.”

Mr. Gilbert is a native of California, and earned his B.A. at UCLA and his MBA at Pepperdine University.

Achyut Jajoo, Oracle’s Senior Director of the Automotive Industry Business Unit, has more than 15 years experience working with the automotive industry in IT and Operations.  For the past eight years at Oracle, Achyut has been responsible for driving the vision, strategy, and delivery of Oracle’s automotive industry solutions, which leverage Oracle’s CRM, Value Chain Planning, and ERP applications and Oracle Middleware technologies.  Achyut spends a significant amount of time working with large global Automotive OEMs, national sales companies, and suppliers on a variety of strategic initiatives including marketing, sales, and service; sales and operations planning; value chain planning and execution; and transportation management.

Achyut has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Andhra University, an MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toledo, and an MBA from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business.

Mike Spadafore is the Global Director, Consumer & Commercial Marketing for R. L. Polk & Co. and is responsible for CRM and Digital Marketing product and service development.

During his 7 years with Polk, Mike has been involved in a wide variety of Polk initiatives relating to Automotive CRM systems and services, most notably as the designer of Polk’s Lead Scoring / Lead Management offerings and Polk’s Transportation List Access System.  Prior to Polk, Mike owned and managed a consulting practice specializing in interactive database marketing and large scale data integration, primarily in the Automotive Retail marketplace.

Biography:

Patrick Reininger is Vice President of Sales and Client Services & Managing Director – Pacific Region.  In this role, Reininger is responsible for managing the customer development and sale of products and services in Polk’s Pacific Region.

 

Reininger’s career is built on more than 20 years of business success in a variety of leadership roles.  Prior to his current role, Patrick served as Vice President & Managing Director for R. L. Polk UK Ltd, where he was the strategic leader for Polk’s UK business operations including sales, production and administration.  Prior to this position, Patrick was based in Essen, Germany where he served as European CRM Director.  In this role he was responsible for the commercial development of PolkConnect, an integrated CRM solution that spans the entire vehicle ownership lifecycle.  PolkConnect is now utilized in 12 countries and 7 languages, and represents the first global product of its kind which integrates vehicle sales and aftersales information on a common platform.

 

Before joining R. L. Polk & Co., Patrick spent 14 years working for Chrysler Canada Inc., where he held several positions with increasing levels of responsibility including Manager of Service Marketing & Development.  In this position, he was responsible for developing an aftersales strategy focused on revenue generation and improving owner retention.  He coordinated national marketing efforts, all Dealer Advertising Association activities related to service and parts, developed retail incentives for service advisors and technicians, and was responsible for the launch of the highly successful Chrysler Predictive Marketing and On Demand program.

 

Patrick holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Windsor, Windsor, Ontario.


John Waraniak
Vice President, Vehicle Technologies

Biography:

John Waraniak leads SEMA’s advanced vehicle technology strategy, programs and initiatives. His role is to

help members understand the challenges, develop solutions and capitalize on the business opportunities

presented by today’s complex vehicle systems and technologies.

Waraniak is a proven industry leader who has worked for automotive, motorsports, aerospace and consumer products companies for more than 20 years. With specific expertise in systems engineering and product development, Waraniak serves as the primary contact for SEMA members to reach automakers and suppliers on vehicle architecture and systems integration issues. He is also responsible for developing SEMA’s technology briefings and connecting SEMA members to the benefits of OEM-Aftermarket collaboration and technology transfer. Waraniak works directly with SEMA’s OE Relations Department representing the association’s members and the automotive specialty-equipment industry with OEMs, industry associations and academic institutions.   

Prior to joining SEMA, Waraniak held executive positions with a range of companies, including TATA Consultancy Services, Johnson Controls, General Motors, Hughes Aircraft, Northrop and No Fear. His visionary and entrepreneurial leadership skills played an integral role in helping these companies develop and implement innovative strategies for adapting best business and technology practices and achieving lean product-process development for growth and improved profitability.

Waraniak has authored numerous industry articles and reports, and is a frequent speaker on the benefits of collaborative product development, lean customization and open systems. He has co-chaired the auto industry’s prestigious Management Briefing Seminars for over ten years where he has been an outspoken advocate for the specialty equipment and performance aftermarket industry with the OEM community.

Waraniak earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan. He has a master’s degree in mechanical and industrial engineering from the University of Illinois and a master’s degree in engineering management from West Coast University. He also graduated from the California Institute of Technology’s Executive Engineering Management Program.

John is an avid industry and motocross enthusiast. He resides in West Bloomfield, Michigan with his wife Terri and their two sons Scott and Jeff.

Dave Schembri

Biography:

David C. Schembri is the President of smart USA, a Penske Automotive Group company.  Schembri is responsible for the distribution of smart vehicles in the USA.  This includes establishing and maintaining a retail network, customer relations, advertising, marketing, PR, and all sales, service, parts and aftersale functions.

Schembri has over 30 years of automotive experience.  The majority of his career was realized in various executive positions at Volkswagen and Mercedes Benz.  The positions held at Volkswagen included the Director of Marketing and the Director of Sales Operations.  At Mercedes Benz, Dave served as both the Vice President of Sales and the Vice President of Marketing.  During his tenure, Schembri was responsible for several successful product launches while the company recorded 11 consecutive record years in new vehicle sales.  Schembri joined Penske Automotive Group as the President of smart USA.

In addition to his corporate responsibilities, Schembri serves on the Board of Directors for the Boomer Esiason Foundation (BEF) in their effort to raise funds for research to find a cure for cystic fibrosis.

Schembri was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan.  He attended the University of Detroit, where earned both his Bachelor’s degree and his MBA.

Biography:

Steve Irby is President and Founder of Stillwater Designs and Audio Inc. maker of Kicker and SoundGate branded car audio and mobile electronics products. His love of music was expressed during high school and college as a keyboard player in various rock-n-roll bands. After a year of graduate study at Oklahoma State University, Steve founded Stillwater Designs with his roommate.

In 1980 Steve developed the original Kicker, a full range enclosed speaker system designed to fit behind the seat in a standard cab pickup truck. This was a first-of-its-kind product innovation which is why similar products of many brands came to be known generically as Kicker-boxes. Joanna Sherry

Biography:

Joanna Sherry was appointed General Manager of Marketing and Business Development at Volkswagen Credit, Inc. in the summer of 2008.  She is responsible for increasing customer awareness for VCI products and services, improving customer retention through CRM initiatives, developing an e-commerce strategy, and leading all aspects of product & business development for VCI.  Prior to her arrival at VCI, Sherry had most recently been the Vice President of Marketing for the Regents Group in Maryland where she was responsible for all aspects of the marketing strategy, B2C internet marketing, direct response marketing, and channel management.  She also spent 10 years at Ford Motor Company where she held several marketing positions of increasing responsibility including leading the successful marketing launch of the 2004 Ford F-150.

Sherry earned a B.B.A. degree in Finance from the University of Notre Dame and an M.B.A. from Duke University.
